Translation Resumes

All right, the holiday is over.

Since I met up with zakii, we’ve managed slip in some translation during the holiday, between visiting families, families, and more families. We’ve also fixed up all the TLC. Benkyou Chapter 1.7 is fully TLC-ed now. Not much changes though, just a bit in the far end of the chapter ^^

Well, then. About the next chapters of Benkyou.

Weeks passed without any takeover request coming in my way (Benkyou is such an unpopular novel…). So although July 15th is not yet arrived, I assumed that no one wanted to and have been preparing for a come back.

Benkyou Chapter 2.1 will be posted by July 15th.
Benkyou Chapter 2.2 will be posted by July 20th.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it will be difficult to maintain two chapters a week, particularly if we’re going to be very loose with the schedule. Thus, it will be once a week.

Beside of it, now I’m also considering to take up translation of old Indonesian novels. Bahasa Indonesia is my native language and English is my second language, so without excluding the possibility of error, I don’t actually need TLC or editor. I also saw some Philippine novels in NU directory, so this alternative is very tempting for me.

I haven’t made any commitment in this one as I’m still considering several novels and how to break them up. But if it comes true, I promise it won’t change the schedule for Benkyou.

Announcement (Sorry T_T)

I’m really, really sorry….

This is not a new chapter of Benkyou no Kamisama wa Hitomishiri…

After finishing chapter 1 (yes, the chapter ended at part 1.7), I intended to take a short break and continue Benkyou Chapter 2 in June. However, till the 20th comes today, the translation is still stuck in the middle of part 2.1 and it’s increasingly unlikely I can take it up within this month.

Truthfully, there’s no reason except for no mood…

There’s a major holiday coming up in the beginning of July, and my office is in a hurry to finish many things before that period (i.e: overtime). Add to that, the stock market is in shambles for weeks now and it frustrates me to no end.

TL, DR; I’m still committed to translate Benkyou, but I won’t be able to come up with a chapter anytime soon. If someone is interested to take it up, just send me a message below, and you’ll free to go. I just hope you’ll translate it in a way that able to maintain its inherent cultural references and mellow characters. If no one asks (or asks but post nothing) till July 15th, that means I’ll post part 2.1 and continue Benkyou’s translation. If someone asks (and post some parts) before July 15th, that means I will take up another novel.

Madoka thought “Umm”, but she strengthened her heart and started talking .

“Like a kamisama.”

“Kamisama?”

“Yes. At the afternoon lesson today. After lunch, the weather was nice too, everyone in the class was really sleepy.”

“Yes, yes…”

“Amid one, two people asleep, only one person straightened his back to receive the lesson”

Maho lightly bursted into laughter.

“I can imagine that”

Announcement

So, that was a teaser, but also an apology from us…

BenkyouKami translation was done by us two sisters, but the one who has full cability to translate Japanese was actually the TLC-er, zakii. However, she’ll go on an important one-month activity starting March 1st and is not sure if she can take time out during that period to check Google Doc to sort out the lumps of jumbled words that was my translation.

Therefore, although we’ve just done it for less than one month, for the next one month, the translation will probably stalled. Because I often misunderstand things even with the help of GT-san, Jisho-jiji and Rikai-kun, I don’t dare to take out anything without her okay. The usual two chapters a week will probably turn to 1 chapter a week or even none.

We will still continue translating BenkyouKami though.

Benkyou no Kamisama wa Hitomishiri

It’s me (makenai89) and my sister zakii’s first publicized translation project. Please note that we do not own this novel. Plus, as I haven’t mastered Japanese, most of the translation are done with the help of GT-san, Jisho-jiji, and Rikaikun. On the other hand, my sister’s good at Japanese, but not so much at English. Fair warning: We are not native at both languages. Thus, the translation’s quality might not be high, although we will do our best to make it readable, so enjoy! ^^

Translator Notes

Feb 19, 2016 – After scanned ahead a bit, I realized that it’s quite awkward to call each section of the story as “chapter”, because it was so short and will only reach culmination after several sections under a sub-title passed. Thus, it was likely that the author wrote each chapter in several parts instead, effectively meant: a sub-title headed a chapter, and a chapter consisted of several parts (there was no fixed amount of parts in each chapter). Continuing forward, we will be keeping this in mind.

Feb 25, 2016 – At some points, there were places where “God” seemed insufficient to replace “Kamisama”. So, although “Kamisama” is “God” and “God” is “Kamisama”, I considered the use of “Kamisama” instead of “God” on all references to Makoto the God of Study within the story. I’m sorry for the inconsistency that may arise.
